recived the dvd in good time as always with Amazon, well so far anyway, does what it said on the box good picture better than my sony player in other room and that cost a lot more. only problem so far is not been able to multi region it, not a lot on the net for this model, so if you need a multi region set, try one of the special sites that do this, if not i recomend getting this one for it goes.

I did some research before replacing our old £20 Tesco DVD player and decided that this was the right product for us.
Sadly it didn’t work for us. I installed the player and popped a rental DVD in to check the setup, all looked fine. A couple of days later the kids sat down to use it properly for the first time but complained of pixellation, I tried a couple of other DVDs (kids can be hard on them) but it wouldn’t read any of them properly. I returned to the original DVD that I had set it up with and now it couldn’t read that properly either. It seemed that the machine was faulty.
So I used Amazon’s return service for the first time, very impressive, by the end of the next day my faulty player had been collected and a new one delivered (by 2 separate couriers).
This player seemed better but it still had trouble reading a couple of DVDs, sometimes very noisy and jerky. I watched one programme until half-way before the DVD froze and my Star Wars Episode III DVD only loaded on the third attempt (and was still noisy).
As other reviewers have had good experiences I assume that my players are part of a faulty batch but I have decided not to try a third time so I am returning this player for a refund and will look for a different model as a replacement.

I bought this dvd player on 21-7-07, to date it play,s cd s but will not play dvd s
It display s [no disk, when a dvd disk is installed, Ihave attempted to contact samsung to no avail. also amazon but am finding this difficult.
Ammendent and —- UPDATE ON REVIEW–got in touch with Amazon through customer service who got on to it immedately, and I had a replacement sent out at once . (very prompt action Amazon). Replacment FIRST class worth the wait,I just attached up and dvd worked, was just unlucky first time.It happen s.VERY IMPRESSED by Amazon and will be happy to buy electric good s with them again

The first unit purchased would only play CDs so I returned it to Amazon and the replacement arrived very promptly.
I am very pleased with the picture quality on a HD TV using the HDMI connection. It is a big improvement in all respects on my Pioneer using RGB. The upscaling produces near Blu-ray quality from good DVD recordings.
The USB input produces excellent pictures from JPEG images from a flash drive or my USB hard drive (1TB Freecom) but will not play MVI clips. It also cannot read files from my Canon IXUS camera directly.
I have converted it to multi-region without any trouble thanks to this information I obtained on the web.
1. Turn player on with without disc in tray.
2. Wait until “no disc” appears on TV screen
3. Press “repeat” (not “repeat A-B”!) on remote.
4. Press in sequence the following keys:
(For Region 2 players only): FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN
Number “0″ must appear in upper left corner of TV screen,
that means that sequence was successful and player is now
region free.
If it does not appear repeat from beginning.
After successful sequence turn player off and on again to check.

Bought this DVD player on a recommendation from a friend and also because I was looking to buy a Samsung TV to go with it. Ended up getting a LG, but decided to stick with the player as it seemed like a good deal. Ordered a HDMI cable to go with it on the ‘combined packages’ recommendation of Amazon and the fact that in the technical section and the product description it said that the machine had HDMI output.
Once I received the player and set about plugging it in, I found that this was not the case. There is no HDMI socket or output capablitiy and if you don’t already have a scart lead you’ll need to get one to play it. I only spent 99p on the HDMI cable, so I’m not feeling robbed, but the description of the product is misleading and I generally trust that Amazon will get it right.
Having said that the picture quality is very good and I can live with turning up the volume in order to hear the DVD. It’s a sleek looking machine and is lightweight, though it has the smallest remote I’ve ever seen – the stop button is also the pause button. However you can get a cheaper DVD player from Amazon that does have HDMI output, which just makes for a tidier appliances stand.
