Review by Paul Madge for SONY DVP-FX810 Portable DVD Player with 8? Widescreen LCD Monitor [Electronics]
Rating:
This portable DVD player typfies the Sony approach to things – quality production and innovative style. It is beautifully made and the hardened acrylic screen can be positioned in different ways – the player can be viewed with the screen standing upright or flat in “tablet mode”. All the accessories are of high quality too including the remote and case. There are also a wide range of input and outputs. The picture and sound quality are excellent as is the battery life but be prepared to buy some decent headphones (none are supplied).
When I use the player on the train people sitting near me frequently eulogise about the compactness and style of it. In summary, quality and style albeit at a price – full marks to Sony.

When you work with camera’s on cranes and dollies or steadicam setups …
you look for a monitor … well I sampled half a dozen ‘PRO’ units with RGB inputs and heavy batteries … then finding this ‘CONSUMER’ unit in a shop around the corner … I just bought it and use it now every day as a monitor … it does have composite video input … from any camera … including my 16.000 Euro High Definition one …
Great unit for framing shots … maybe not for focusing … and yes … after work … I can watch a great DVD movie as well … I think that is what it was actually designed for …
SONY design … great swivel LCD screen … a Toy … you just can’t say no to this little gem! It’s a SONY!
