I bought this with such great expectation; what a disappointment. There is no IP TV service – not in the UK anyway, I doubt that Kiss will ever get around to providing it.
I thought it would be great for listening to various web based radio streams – er no.. you have to listen to the stations that are in the pre set lists, you can’t choose the web address. So if you have a station you like but it isn’t on the list – tough!
Just like IP TV the weather forecast is not available!!
The file structure for viewing your content is too clumsy and slow, I thought you might be able to play a CD and have a slideshow running i.e. your favourite CD playing over the top of a slide show of your holiday snaps – No Again.
What about just plain old DVD use – yeah it’s fine but I’ve got one already and it has far more functionality. The Kiss DVD player is very limited.
So it just didn’t happen for me. What topped it off though was that it kept needing to be re-powered – it would just lock up. Eventualy the whole thing just froze and all it would show is a green and blue psychadelic pattern on the screen.
I bought it through Pixmania – there service is rubbish! you have to send it back to France – “sir we need to allow 15 days before we can acknowledge that we have it back”…….story goes on. “Sir we need to send it back to the manufacturer”……”Sir we are waiting for the manufacturer” ….Repeat message several times!!!!
Eventually I told them that they had 30 days to give me my money back – they gave me a credit – I can’t be bothered to argue with them any more.
Don’t buy one – I’m going to wait until these products are more stable as I have heard Netgears EVA8000 is the same.

Bought for Christmas present in 2006. Went faulty, returned in Jan 2007 to manufacturer at my expense. Not seen it since, it’s now June 2007!!!
Pixmania have really poor after sales service. BTW Amazon are great, just wish their partners were the same.

Just taken delivery of my DP-600. Overall I’m satisfied but unless I’m doing something wrong it doesn’t at present give you everything Kiss suggest.
As far as I can tell there is no access from the DP-600 to VOD or IP Television services. I’m sure the DP-600 is capable of this if only Kiss were providing access to such services, but there are no VOD or IPTV options in its menus.
There are also no online weather forecasts or stock market data as claimed (though such information can easily be accessed through a Freeview box anyway).
It’s great having a gadget that promises to deliver so much functionality, but that’s not much use if the functionality isn’t enabled yet and there’s no news on the Kiss website of when it will be!
For the Avides price it’s still worth it for the functionality you do get and might get in the future, but be aware the advertising is a just a little misleading. If you are intending to stream all media content from your network note carefully the media types the DP600 supports.
As always delivery from Avides in Germany is extremely fast with excellent email communication of order progress, though you might want to replace the provided European plug with UK adapter with a proper UK plug.
I’d had given it 5 stars if it actually did what it says on the box!

The Kiss DP-600 is unreal. I have seen negative reviews on this product but I still went ahead and bought it because I thought even if these reviews were correct that the offering was too good to miss.
The negative reviews stated the following
1) The DVD drive gives out a constant whine that is so loud you can hear it over the TV
2) The PC link software is rubbish it doesn’t work and they had to use windows media connect.
3) The box will crash on occasion and you have to power cycle it.
4) The wireless capability is limited you need to have your access point right next to the DP-600
5) It has no Hard drive
In answer to 1
I suspect that this person had a faulty drive,Tinitus or is using it as a pillow because I can’t hear anything lout of the ordinary let alone over the tv.
In answer to 2
I had my Kiss DP-600 up and running and streaming content from my PC Over wireless using PC link in under 10 minuts. It was very easy I didn’t even read the instructions. If you are having problems with PC Link download the latest version from the Kiss site and make sure that your firewall is not blocking it. If you are using Win XP SP2 remember that windows firewall is on by default.
In answer to 3
This box has played everything that I have thrown at it. Things that my old DP-500 couldn’t play. If you put something in to the DP-600 that it can’t handle and it crashes powere cycle it and either look for an update or don’t play unsupported formats. remember also that the people who encode the media that you are downloading don’t always know what they are doing. I had this problem with my old DP-500 but I would power cyle and not play that file. I’m sure that you will have the exact same issues on other similar products. For the price I can live with it.

I live in an old Victorian house my TV is in one room and my Wireless router another, there is probably 15 meters between the Router and my DB-600 and a Brick wall. I have 95 % signal strength. need I say more.

If you are streaming content why do you need a hard drive? it has wireless and an ethernet port. But if you are that fussed about it, there is also a USB port so you can connect an external Hard drive if you want to
I love this product, I loved the DP-500 and Old as it was it still out performed any of my firends dvd players. The DP-600 is light years ahead of the DP-500 which to my mind and from my personal experience makes it the best that you can buy for the money.
