Great DVD player (5 star What Hi-Fi award) that up-scales to HD – both SD and HD pictures look great. This player also plays DivX files, from either a CD/DVD disc or from a memory stick through it’s USB slot.
It’s quick to start up and all menus are intuitive. Only thing that lets it down is cheap looking design and a very cheaply made remote control. But the pros far outweigh the cons if you want a player for what it does rather than how it looks.
I also received mine multi-region so even better. Highly recommended.

Im really happy with this DVD player. OK its a bit basic in design – but it does what you want to very well – ie the pictures upscaled though my Panasonic Veira are very good. Would recommend especially for the price.

i didnt know what to expect when i purchased this player,but after receiving it i was very impressed.
it may not be blu-ray standard but its a very nice peice of equipment that you should definitely consider.
i wasnt prepared to buy a lot of blu ray discs,and i watch a lot of dvds,this player gave me exactly what i was looking for.
as for looks, it may not look totally chic but its far from being an ugly duckling.
buy it, i dont think that you will regret it.

I bought this Onkyo dvd upscaler expecting mildly improved picture quality,
boy was i surprised, i own a ps3 which has its own dvd upscaling function,
but the onkyo over HDMI is to my eyes a sharper more detailed picture than
Sonys own upscaling, maybe this is because the Onkyo is solely decicated to dvd.
Onkyo gives you the option of sending 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i or the full 1080p,
so no matter what tv you own theres a setting to suit everyone.
Connection is via HDMI, scart or video & line in, no s-video link.
Online reviews say its plasticy & cheap, personally i think it looks fine if not as posh as higher spec & price models.
the remote is small & pretty cramped but does the job ok, the screen on front of player is very small & hard to see.
The usb port is situated nicely at the front, plugged in a sony nwz mp4 player & we have music with on screen menu.
Overall an exellent player, not as sharp as blu-ray but as close as you can get without spending god knows how much updating your whole library!
