I have been using this box for a couple of weeks now and it has locked up 3 times
I purchased the recorder to replace a philips dvd hdd recorder as I don’t really use the dvd part and I mostly use the timeshift function and I needed something smaller
Things that I didn’t like about this box
You can’t record from the ‘timeshifted’ section eg. you had the box on and fell asleep during you program so you rewind it and then find yourself very tired so you decide to record the show. This function is available on the philips system but not on this box (atleast I haven’t found it yet)
If you watch a recording or view anything from the disk it erases the time shift buffer the phillips system didn’t
Smetimes you have to push the remote buttons a couple of times before the box decides you are telling it you want something done
It takes 30 or so seconds to start up so if someone rings the doorbell or the phone goes you can’t just turn the box on quickly because you will still miss some of your show (I usually leave the box on with a permanent time shift going)
Things I like
The remote is much simpler to use than my philips system
I can put the videos from my pc onto the box so I can view them on my tv using a usb cable or I can use the box and supplied software to stream from my pc
Its a lot smaller than my philips box
The timer record menu is very simple to use (you do have to work out how long the show is rather than its finish time)

I have been using this for 2 months and finding it quite reliable in many respects comapred to the other media player I used.
It has got good quality of Freeview tuner and the picture quality is great. Very rarely break-ups and stutters even in weak signal. EPG comes on display in reasonable time
Plays all known files such as avi, mpg, xvid, ts and other dvd files
All necessary connection ports on board such as HDMI, Scarts, Compoiste, Component, Optical, iLink etc and Input/Output signals of scart are good
Copy functions from Lan to HDD, from HDD to USB, from USB to HDD
Lan set-up is easy and stream through wired lan connection never fails
Highly recommended all round media recorder !
